A Queensland man who works at a small-town school has been charged with sexually assaulting a child across several months.
Queensland Police Service have charged a 67-year-old man from the South Burnett region with four counts of rape.
Police will allege the offences were committed over a five-month period between January and June.
The man has been charged with four counts of rape.
He faced Kingaroy Magistrate Court today.
A spokeswoman for the Department of Education confirmed the man was no longer working at the school.
“The department is aware a school staff member has been charged with serious offences and can confirm the individual concerned is no longer working at a state school,” the spokeswoman said.
“We are unable to comment further on the matter given a current police investigation is underway.
“Support will continue to be provided for any students, parents or staff that require assistance.
“Parents and care givers with concerns are encouraged to discuss them with the school principal.”
