Two police officers have faced court for the first time after being charged with threatening a man at a South East Queensland watch-house.
Martin Heath Hunter and Ann Elizabeth Johnson, both 54, were charged in January following investigation by police’s Internal Investigations Group.
It’s alleged Sgt Hunter and Snr Cst Johnson acted in abuse of their positions as public officers to threaten a man named Wayne Robert Green while off duty at Murgon Watchhouse on May 23 last year.
Court documents reveal they are alleged to have threatened to make Mr Green a victim of violence or extortion with intent to dishonestly cause him detriment.
Sgt Hunter and Snr Cst Johnson were each charged on January 23 with one count of misconduct in relation to public office by doing an act or making an omission in abuse of authority of office.
The Murgon-based police officers both faced Brisbane Magistrate Court in person on Thursday for the matter’s first mention.
They were both represented by Calvin Gnech, of Gnech and Associates, who requested the matter be adjourned for mention on March 10.
Sgt Hunter and Snr Cst Johnson were granted bail, and made no comment to media when exiting the court.
Police previously confirmed the officers have been suspended from service.
