A suspended Queensland nurse has walked free from court on probation for having some of the worst kind of vile child rape videos on his phone and for filming an unsuspecting naked female.

Noah Russell Addison, who worked at the St Andrew’s War Memorial Hospital until he was suspended in February, was in the District Court in Brisbane on Thursday before Judge Carl Heaton KC.

He also previously worked as an assistant in nursing at Metro South Hospital and Health Service, his LinkedIn profile states.

The 26-year-old pleaded guilty to possessing child exploitation material on December 10 last year at his Nundah home, and to recording a naked woman in her bathroom on November 26.

Prosecutor Kyle Kinsella submitted Addison had 33 images and videos including 12 category one images and 16 category one videos, which were the worst category of child exploitation material, including the rape of toddlers by adult males, on his phone.

He also recorded a video of a naked female with her breasts exposed, filmed on his mobile phone through her window.

Police found the video and the child images on his phone during a search of his home on December 10.

“This is serious offending, so serious that it is reflected by our legislatures with a maximum penalty of 14 years’ imprisonment,” Judge Heaton told Addison.

“Real children are harmed in the creation of this material. Your offending supports an abhorrent industry”.

Judge Heaton noted Addison was not a pedophile.

Defence counsel Michael Bonasia told the court that his client’s offending did not appear to be an “absolute bar” from returning to his work as a nurse, but that Addison had been suspended by the health watchdog.

He was currently working as a forklift operator and labourer and has been treated by psychologist Lars Madsen.

A psychological report states that Addison was a porn-addict and his risk of reoffending would reduce with therapy, and he had a positive prognosis.

“I accept this is a serious offence. but it is not necessary for a community to know that this man has been convicted of this offence,” Mr Bonasia said in relation to the discretion for Judge Heaton not to record a conviction.

Addison graduated with his nursing degree from the Queensland University of Technology in 2022, according to the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency.

Addison must serve two years probation and report to probation and parole in Wynnum.

No conviction was recorded.

“You were in the early stages of a career as a nurse and that has been placed in jeopardy by your offending,” Judge Heaton wrote.

“A recording of a conviction will also reach other aspects of your life in the future, restrict travel and other opportunities,” he said.

Addison was earlier placed on a six-month good behaviour bond for possession of 1g of the drug MDMA found at his apartment on December 10.

The Brisbane Magistrates Court did not record a conviction for that offence.
