A Queensland policeman who allegedly escorted his daughter across the state’s closed border from New South Wales has had his case mentioned in court for the first time.
Robert William Eickenloff, 55, was charged with one count of misconduct in relation to public office by doing an act or making an omission in abuse of power.
The Courier-Mail understands the Brisbane-based officer was on shift on September 15 when he allegedly drove to the Gold Coast to help his daughter Maddie, who did not have a valid pass, cross the state line.
Miss Eickenloff, 22, who was working in the ACT, had driven to northern NSW where she was allegedly met by her father who helped her across the border.
The officer appeared in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on Monday morning for a brief mention of his charge.
Defence lawyer Calvin Gnech asked for the case to be adjourned to next month.
Police confirmed Miss Eickenloff had been fined and was placed in hotel quarantine.
Mr Eickenloff, who works in the Road Policing and Regional Support Command, has been suspended over the alleged incident.
The case will be mentioned again on November 29.
