Police rule death of man found in Brisbane River as non-suspicious

A six-day search to identify a man whose body was found in the Brisbane River has ended, with police confirming his details and moving a step closer to determining how he ended up there.

Police have ruled the death of a man found dead in the Brisbane River as non-suspicious as detectives have identified the body, six days after being found by passers-by.

The man, a 58-year-old who lived on a boat near Balmoral, was found in the water beneath the Story Bridge at Kangaroo Point at 7.30am on Monday.

With no identification found on the body, detectives launched an investigation into who the man was and how he died.

Queensland Police confirmed on Saturday morning that detectives had ruled out foul play and a report would be prepared for the coroner.
