A 19-year-old Springwood man has been charged with a range of serious offences including unlawful escape from custody after a month-long police investigation found him hiding in a bedroom cupboard.
Logan Domestic, Family Violence and Vulnerable Person Unit charged the man after a raid on a Springwood property, where they found the man in a cupboard on October 24.
The man had escaped a police search of the Springwood address on October 18 but were able to make an arrest a week later when they returned with members of the Logan Tactical Crime Squad.
The man has been charged with three counts of contravening a Domestic Violence Order (aggravated offences), unlawful escape from custody, and obstructing police and is due to appear at Beenleigh Magistrates Court this month.
Detective Senior Sergeant Darko Radovanovic of the Logan Domestic, Family Violence and Vulnerable Person Unit said police were committed to curbing domestic violence in the community.
“We are dedicated to supporting victims of domestic violence and taking firm action against those who choose to disregard the law,” he said.
“This operation demonstrates that commitment.”
