The 30-year-old Eagleby man is due to appear before the Beenleigh Magistrates Court on July 12.

Investigations are ongoing.

The deceased, who has been identified as Danny Herman, 27, was found in the river near his Eagleby home about 7.30am on Friday after a search by water police and the Queensland Fire and Rescue Service swiftwater rescue team.

She said what sparked the altercation was being investigated, and a 30-year-old Eagleby man was in custody assisting detectives with their inquiries.

Det Insp Brown said Mr Herman may have been in the water for ‘up to an hour or two’.

Mr Herman is pictured in Facebook photos with two young children.

A woman who was listed as having shared a house with Mr Herman, and is also in photos with the same children, posted on Facebook after the tragedy: “F..k please no. F...g noo, this all can’t be real”.

Mr Herman’s partner’s grandmother said the family was “very, very sad”.

She revealed Mr Herman’s partner was due to give birth to their child in just nine weeks’ time.

Mr Herman’s sister, Christel, took to Facebook on Friday to pay emotional tribute to her brother.

“Found out my big brother died today this afternoon love you always I’m gonna make you proud and look after (their mother and Mr Herman’s partner and two children) and the new little one on the way,’ she posted with a broken heart emoji.

“I love you always thank you for always being the best big brother just wish I could of had more time to hug you longer.”
