Police hunt escaped prisoner in Scenic Rim region
A prisoner serving more than five years for unlawfully possessing weapons has escaped a low-security prison west of the Gold Coast Hinterland.

A prisoner has escaped and is on the run after absconding from a correctional facility west of the Gold Coast.
Mitchell John Conner, 38, escaped early Tuesday morning from Palen Creek low custody correctional centre in the Scenic Rim.
Mr Connor is serving more than five years for unlawfully obtaining or possessing regulated weapons.
A spokeswoman for the Queensland Police Service said the escapee was 186cm tall with a fair complexion and ginger hair.
“He also has a tribal-style tattoo over his left shoulder and crown-style tattoo on his upper right arm,” A QPS spokeswoman said.
“He is believed to have been wearing a green tracksuit or khaki work gear.”
Police and corrective services would not disclose how the prisoner escaped or if he was suspected to be on foot but urged the public to stay away and contact authorities if they have any information.
