Police allegedly assaulted in ‘unprovoked’ Fortitude Valley attack
A police officer was knocked out after an alleged assault in Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley early on Friday morning. A man and two women have been charged.

A police officer was knocked out after an alleged assault in Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley early on Friday morning.
The officer and two of his colleagues were also taken to hospital after they responded to a disturbance at a nearby business near Brunswick and Wickham street about 4am.
The Courier-Mail has been told police tried to take a man into custody when one of the officers was allegedly punched in the face, before he was placed in a chokehold on the ground.
Another officer went to his aid and was allegedly eye-gouged by one of the women in the group. As the officer who had been choked got to his feet he was allegedly punched in the head and was knocked out by one of the women.
A 23-year-old Caboolture man, a 19-year-old Seven Hills woman and an 18-year-old Torquay woman, were charged over the incident.
Police said in a statement that a 30-year-old male sergeant, a 56-year-old male senior constable, and a 30-year-old female constable were injured as a result of the alleged attack which police say was “unprovoked”.
Additional officers arrived a short time later and the man and two women were taken into custody.
A 23-year-old Caboolture man was charged with two counts of serious assault of a police officer, and one count each of affray in a public place while adversely affected, obstruct police officer.
A 19-year-old Seven Hills woman was charged with two counts of serious assault police officer.
They are both expected to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court on Friday.
An 18-year-old Torquay woman was also charged with two counts of serious assault police officer.
She is expected to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court on February 26.
