Peter Foster spotted at Gold Coast cafe days after being granted bail over alleged $2m Bitcoin fraud

A relaxed Peter Foster has been spotted with his defence lawyer at a Gold Coast cafe just days after he was granted bail over an alleged $2m Bitcoin fraud.

Peter Foster has emerged from his Mount Tamborine digs for his first taste of freedom since being granted bail on fraud charges.

Foster was granted bail on Friday over an alleged $2 million Bitcoin fraud and after a pit stop at Beenleigh Police Station bunkered down in a sprawling Tamborine homestead over the weekend.

On Monday morning he was spotted with his defence lawyer, high-profile Gold Coast defence solicitor Chris Hannay, at a local coffee shop.

Looking relaxed, Foster said he was looking forward to the chance to clear his name.

“I’m extremely grateful to my legal team and to the magistrate who saw fit to grant me bail,” he said.

“Trying to prepare for a legal case while you are behind bars is like going into a fight with one hand tied behind your back.

“At least this way it is more of a fair fight.”

He said he had had little sleep since his release and was looking forward to a haircut.

Mr Hannay said Foster would be defending the charges.

Foster was arrested in December and had been in custody ever since until his release on bail last week.

Magistrate Janice Crawford granted Foster bail on condition he live with his sister at Mt Tamborine in the Gold Coast hinterland, wear a tracking device, surrender his passport, not approach any airport, and report three times a week to police.
