The woman accused of manslaughter over the tragic Gold Coast hinterland crash which left three people dead has had her parole cancelled and has been transferred to a women’s prison.
Uiatu “Joan” Taufua, the mother of Brisbane Broncos star Payne Haas, was on parole after serving one month of a nine-month sentence for assaulting security guards at the Gold Coast’s Star Casino when she allegedly veered on to the wrong side of the road and collided with another car at Bonogin on Friday last week.
The crash killed retired doctor Chris Fawcett, 79, his partner Susan Zimmer, 70, and her daughter Steffanie, 35.
Taufua was due to apply for bail over the shocking crash next week but the charges of manslaughter, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, evade police and unlicensed driving constituted a breach of the 46-year-old’s parole, which has now been cancelled.
After facing court in September to plead guilty over the Star Casino assault of two security guards, Taufua was sentenced to nine months’ jail to be released on parole after one month.
She was transferred from the Gold Coast University Hospital to the Southport Watchhouse on Tuesday night, but has since been moved to the Brisbane Women’s Correctional Centre.
Payne Haas has been granted leave from Broncos training to be with his family
There is no suggestion he had any involvement in the crash.
Meanwhile, Ms Zimmer’s daughter Claudine Snow has thanked the community for their support following the tragedy and revealed there will be a service on January 13 at the Mudgereeba showgrounds for her parents and sister.
Ms Snow posted the message on the Bonogin Valley Community saying she was, “truly humbled by the support.”
“I want to make sure I thank everyone who was at the scene rendering assistance to my family,” she wrote.
