An alleged drug trafficker has been charged with attempted murder, over a year after a man was stabbed multiple times and a woman was allegedly kidnapped from her southside home.
Paul Luu, 34, faced Brisbane Arrest Court on Friday morning via videolink from Lotus Glen Correctional Centre.
He was charged in December with attempted murder, kidnapping, entering a dwelling with intent (uses/threatens violence while armed in company), and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.
It’s alleged the offences occurred at a Muhammad Street house in Doolandella on October 15, 2023.
At the time, police said they were called to the street at approximately 9.30pm for an alleged wounding incident.
They located a 29-year-old Yeronga man with non-life-threatening stab wounds to his shoulder and back, along with an uninjured 32-year-old Inala woman.
They charged a 40-year-old man with attempted murder at that time, and alleged four people left the scene prior to the arrival of emergency services.
Another man, 34-year-old Mitchell Andrew Sawden, was charged over the same incident last August.
He is charged with attempted murder, kidnapping, enter dwelling while armed and in company, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, and multiple drug and weapons-related charges.
According to court documents, Luu and Sawden are both charged with attempting to murder Franco Cao after entering the Doolandella home of Linda Thi Dang, who is also the subject of the kidnapping charge.
In addition to the attempt murder charge, Luu is also charged with drug trafficking, alleged to have occurred at Forest Lake between September 7, 2023 and February 10, 2024.
He’s further charged with possessing property (Australian currency) suspected of being acquired with proceeds of an offence under the drugs misuse act on February 9, 2024 in Forest Lake.
Luu made no application for bail at his matter’s first mention on Friday.
He was remanded in custody for mention at Brisbane Magistrates Court on February 10.
Sawden is next scheduled for mention at Brisbane Magistrates Court on January 28.
