Neighbours have described the horrifying moment an allegedly stolen car crashed into an Oxley home on Wednesday afternoon.

Six boys have subsequently been charged over the incident, including a 12-year-old.

About 12.30pm on Wednesday a black BMW SUV crashed into the front garage and a second vehicle at the Oxley Station Rd residence, with flying debris injuring the homeowner.

Seven youths were arrested at the scene, and all were taken to hospital for assessment. The homeowner, a man in his 50s, was taken to Princess Alexandra Hospital in a stable condition with chest pains.

Neighbour Adam Jones rushed outside when he heard a loud bang.

“There were police everywhere - four or five police cars,” Mr Jones says.

He says the BMW was boxed in by police at a car park at the local shops, which sits on the other side of a park about 100m up the road from the crash site.

“Then they [the BMW] drove up the footpath, and then they drove through the park bollards and then straight through the fence,” he said.

“They we’re driving very fast...”

He says the teenagers in the car tried to flee on foot after the crash.

“As soon as they crashed they were all out of the car, so when police came they didn’t really know what was going on.”

Mr Jones described the aftermath as “chaos”.

Another nearby resident heard the incident as it happened.

“I had the plumber round and he told me to come look … the plumber said he thought a meth lab had exploded! It was a good big sound,” she said.

Clean-up crews have attended the property, while a tradesman was called in to check the structural safety of the garage and fences, and council workers cleaned up the deep tyre marks left in the grass of the neighbouring park.

Local Sue said the incident could have been a lot worse.

“It’s a miracle no one was killed, people walk up and down that path all the time, with prams and things,” she said.

A 15-year-old Crestmead boy is alleged to have been the driver. He has been charged with one count each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, unlicensed driving, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, negligent acts causing harm and acts intended to prevent lawful arrest. He was also charged with three counts of wilful damage and two counts of stealing.

A 12-year-old Kingston boy has been charged with two counts each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and stealing.

A 14-year-old Wondai boy, a 13-year-old Regents Park boy, a 13-year-old Crestmead boy and a 13-year-old Murgon boy have all been charged with one count of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and two counts of stealing.

All six boys will appear in the Richlands Childrens Court.

It is not known if the seventh person in the car will be charged.

Police will allege they were alerted to a stolen black BMW being driven dangerously near Blackbutt, north of Brisbane, around 9am Wednesday morning.

The crash was witnessed by police helicopter, which had been monitoring the vehicle from the skies for some time after the car was seen making its way towards Brisbane around noon.

Police inspector Karl Hahne said the BMW SUV was reported stolen in Paddington on July 26. It will be alleged that the vehicle had been involved in a number of offences across the Brisbane area in the time since it was stolen.

He refused to be drawn on the specifics of what those alleged offences were.

“In its efforts to avoid police, the car has come into the backstreets here in Oxley and at this stage our investigations suggest that it’s lost control, gone through some barricades here at the park, and then gone into a house and collected another car in the garage,” he said.

Insp Hahne also said the medical treatment of all involved was the most important thing, and that police would talk with each person as soon as they were able to.

The seven boys sustained soft tissue damage and were taken to the Queensland Children’s Hospital, while the homeowner was in the garage and suffered minor injuries in the collision.

Insp Hahne said the man had been hit by flying debris, not the vehicles themselves, and was very lucky to have walked away without more serious injuries.

The inspector said officers were hoping to view CCTV of the incident, and have urged anyone with information to come forward.
