One critical, two injured in alleged ‘bladed weapons’ attack

Police were forced to deploy a tyre deflation device to stop a man, following a late-night ‘bladed weapons’ attack at a home west of Brisbane that left three men injured.

A man remains in a serious condition in hospital following an alleged ‘bladed weapons’ attack at a private address in Ipswich overnight.

A Queensland Police spokeswoman confirmed the serious assault occurred on Greenway Circuit, Springfield just after 9pm on Friday.

Police believe a 33-year-old man and a 28-year-old man went to the home and an altercation broke out between them and a 32-year-old male resident.

The 32-year-old man left the home in a vehicle before police arrived and police subsequently used a tyre deflation device to stop the vehicle.

Paramedics, including critical care and High Acuity Response Unit took three males to hospital following the alleged wounding.

The 33-year-old man sustained head, chest and limb injuries and was taken to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in a serious condition.

The 28-year-old man was treated for neck, shoulder and back injuries and was taken to the PA hospital, while the 32-year-old man sustained head and neck injuries and was taken to Ipswich Hospital.

The 28-year-old man and the 32-year-old man are now assisting police with their inquiries.

Police have confirmed that those involved in the incident are known to each other, but investigators remain tight-lipped about any possible motive.

It’s understood the attack is not linked to organised crime and there is no greater threat to the public.

A neighbour, who has lived in their area for 20 years, said nothing like this has ever happened before.

“I didn’t hear anything but when I saw the flashing lights and looked outside I knew it was bad - the street was filled with police.”

Another neighbour said he believed a young family lived in the home.

“I have lived in the area for 13 years but for the last 10 years there has been police in the street every six months.”
