Notorious stage invader who charged Ariana Grande revealed as Brisbane man Johnson Wen
Brisbane's notorious 'Pyjama Man' has struck again, charging at superstar Ariana Grande at her Singapore film premiere despite vowing to "behave more" after previous stunts.
A notorious stage invader who jumped a barrier at a movie premiere and accosted superstar Ariana Grande is a serial pest from Brisbane who once vowed to “behave more”.
Johnson Wen - who goes by Pyjama Man - grabbed the Wicked: For Good actor at the film’s Singapore premiere on Thursday in a terrifying incident after he leapt over a barrier and dodged multiple security guards.
Grande’s co-star Cynthia Erivo, quickly rushed to protect her.
In multiple videos going viral on social media, Grande, 32, can be seen walking the red carpet with Erivo, 38, and the other two main stars of the movie, Michelle Yeoh and Jeff Goldblum, as a Wen sprints towards them and wraps his arms around Grande.
Grande, who plays Glinda in the film, tried to get away from Wen, who smiled and cheered while grabbing the pop star.
He posted a video of the incident on his own Instagram account that has 9000 followers, writing, “@arianagrande @wickedmovie Dear Ariana Grande Thank You for letting me Jump on the Yellow Carpet with You️.”
He also shared a video of himself on his Instagram stories and wrote, “I’m free after being arrested”.
He wore a “Jesus” shirt in the clip.
Wen is known for his elaborate stunts, which included stage crashing Katy Perry, Chainsmokers and The Weekend, and invading the pitch at multiple cricket and soccer matches.
Wen - who is from Toowong - was also sentenced in Brisbane Magistrates Court in 2020 after he dangled dangerously off a footbridge.
The then-21-year-old pleaded guilty to committing a public nuisance and unregulated high risk activity, after climbing over the railing of the Museum and Cultural Centre footbridge at Southbank.
In another incident at the South Brisbane bus terminal, Wen walked into the middle of the road and laid down, forcing a bus to slow down to avoid hitting him.
Wen told The Courier-Mail at the time he was going to stay out of trouble.
“I‘m probably going to behave more,” he said outside of court in 2020.
In the most recent incident, Wen was arrested by Singapore authorities but released without charge.
In the comments section of Wen’s video, fans blasted him for the incident involving Grande.
“You literally assaulted her. this isn’t a flex, it’s a crime. shame on you!” one person wrote.
A third person added, “nobody is OK with your actions. you’re literally harassing her. this is NOT OK.”
“Are you happy now? Does it bring you joy to disturb celebrities? That’s sad,” someone else said.
