Umar Hussein Alkhalifa Al Enizi will face Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Monday charged with murder over Friday’s alleged fatal hit and run in Browns Plains.

Al Enizi, 20, from Marsden, is accused of allegedly fatally striking a 25-year-old Browns Plains man before fleeing the scene.

He has also been charged with driving without a licence, and failing to remain at the scene of an incident and exhibit proper respect to the deceased.

Around 3pm on September 17, police and paramedics were called to Wembley Road following reports of an alleged hit-and-run incident.

Police will allege the fatal strike came after a prolonged road rage event between Al Enizi and the deceased man.

Police understand Al Enizi was driving a white Audi S3 when he allegedly hit the pedestrian, who had gotten out of a blue Toyota Camry.

According to extra information released by detectives yesterday, the incident started in Brisbane’s north just after 2pm on Friday.

“The vehicles predominantly used the Clem 7 tunnel, Pacific Motorway M3 and the Gateway Motorway M2 between 2pm and 3pm,” police said in a statement.

Al Enizi was located by police at a Loganlea home almost 24 hours after he’s accused of fleeing the scene of the alleged hit and run, while his car was located some hours after the incident at a Marsden address.

Queensland Police Regional Crime Coordinator for the South East region, Detective Inspector Paul Dalton said the lives of both the deceased man and Al Enizi had been changed as a result of the fatal incident, as had the lives of those who witnessed the horror event.

“These people are just members of our community who are out there living a lawful life, going about their business, and they had to witness this. This will impact them for the rest of their life.”

Det Insp Dalton urged the public to “take a breath, think about it, relax and drive the other way,” if they find themselves in a frustrating situation on Queensland’s roads.

Police are continuing their appeal for information as they continue to piece together Friday’s events.

Detectives are urging the public to check their dashcam footage from between 2pm to 3pm in the suburbs of Eagle Farm through to Browns Plains.

“Motorists checking their dashcam footage may observe the vehicles driving lawfully or erratically and together or separately throughout the near hour-long incident and are urged to come forward with any captured sightings, no matter how insignificant they may seem,” a statement from police said.

“Motorists without dashcam vision, but who witnessed the vehicles are also asked to come forward.”

Al Enizi was not required to appear in Beenleigh Magistrates Court today and the matter was adjourned until November 10.
