A 53-year-old motorcyclist rider has died after a horror Friday afternoon M1 smash, with multiple police and ambulance crews called to the scene and traffic delayed for up to three hours.
Police will allege the Upper Coomera man was riding southbound along the Pacific Motorway just after 3pm when his motorcycle lost control and crashed into a guardrail.
The man died at the scene.
One southbound lane was kept open for most of the afternoon, but traffic still stretched back as far as Beenleigh, with commuters taking hours to complete their journey home.
Roads near the crash scene, including Dreamworld Parkway and Foxwell Rd, also experienced heavy delays.
The scene was finally cleared at 6pm, but delays continued well into the evening.
The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.
