Moment teen hauled from bus after alleged shopping centre robbery, assault

Five teens aged 13 to 16 have been charged after they allegedly robbed a boy at a shopping centre in Brisbane’s south, with one dragged off a bus infront of shocked onlookers.

Five teenagers have been charged after they allegedly robbed a boy in a shopping centre in Brisbane’s south on Sunday evening.

Police from the Morningside Child Protection and Investigation unit allege the five teenagers approached a 17-year-old Willawong boy at the Upper Mount Gravatt shopping centre at 5.05pm.

The group allegedly demanded several personal belongings from the boy and, when he refused, the group allegedly assaulted him before running away.

Tactical Crime Squad and General Duties officers responding to the incident arrested the group at a nearby bus station within minutes.

All five teenagers were charged with one count of robbery.

A 16-year-old Acacia Ridge boy was remanded in custody and was expected to reappear before Brisbane Childrens Court on July 25.

Three boys from Acacia Ridge, aged 13, 14 and 15-years-old and a 13-year-old Acacia Ridge girl were dealt with under the provisions of the Youth Justice Act.
