An alleged fraudster accused of scamming a dozen people out of vacuums and other goods through Facebook Marketplace has fronted court.
Mitchell Douglas Costanzo, 22, faced Redcliffe Magistrates Court on Wednesday after being charged with 12 counts of fraud, allegedly committed between May and July this year.
Police allege Mr Costanzo created at least three fake social media accounts and used these to post items for sale – usually vacuum cleaners – under names including Chanelle Skylah, Curtis Jackson and Chilli Bella Moratti.
“Different users would then contact him to purchase the items and he would ask for electronic bank transfer, then (allegedly) block them after money was received,” a Queensland Police spokesperson said.
Mr Costanzo was arrested at his North Lakes property on Tuesday night following a search warrant being executed by the Peninsula Volume Investigations team.
He was remanded in custody and will next appear in court on August 10.
