Men charged over violent road rage incident in Innisfail

A man has been charged over a violent road rage incident in which another motorist was run over following a fight.

A Far North Queensland driver has been charged over a violent road rage incident that allegedly involved him running over another motorist after they had a fight.

Police allege a fight broke out between the two men, who were not known to each other, on Meyer Ave in Wangan, south of Innisfail, about 3pm on Friday.

The 44-year-old South Johnstone man then allegedly ran over a 33-year-old man from Stoter Hills before fleeing the scene.

The injured man was taken to Innisfail with fractures to his leg.

The driver was later arrested and charged with one count of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing grievous bodily harm and left scene of incident without obtaining help.

He will face Innisfail magistrates Court on March 11.
