Matthew Charles Fox must decide on a plea after being accused of removing a Covid-19 sign from Sunrise Beach playground

An Instagram famous fitness fanatic accused of a bizarre Covid-19 related crime was told he must decide on a plea while he waited unmasked outside a Coast courtroom.

A Sunshine Coast personal trainer who allegedly removed Covid-19 signage from a playground has been ordered to enter a plea of guilty or not guilty while he waited outside a court.

Police will allege Matthew Charles Fox, 34, removed Covid-19 signage from a playground at Sunrise Beach on August 4.

Police allege Fox recorded himself removing the signage and placing it in a bin.

He was charged with one count of stealing.

Mr Fox, who has a social media following of 386,000 Instagram followers and 20,000 YouTube subscribers to his home workout videos, was asked to leave Noosa Magistrates Court when he did not wear a mask on his last appearance.

On Tuesday the court heard Mr Fox was willing to put a mask on, providing his matter was dealt with quickly by the court.

Magistrate Haydn Stjernqvist said he did not need Mr Fox in the courtroom.

The court heard Mr Fox’s Victorian lawyer had requested an adjournment until October 5.

Mr Stjernqvist agreed to the adjournment but said Mr Fox must enter a plea of guilty or not guilty on that date.

The 34-year-old declined to comment outside court.
