Man tried to strangle, suffocate woman during early-morning break-in
A man has allegedly broken a domestic violence order and attacked a woman after first breaking in to a home in the early hours of the morning.

A man has been charged with the attempted murder of a woman after he allegedly ignored the conditions of an existing domestic violence order and broke into the woman’s house where he allegedly attempted to suffocate and strangle her.
According to police, the woman was able to free herself and seek refuge at a neighbour’s house after she suffered injuries to her hands and neck.
Police say the man, 54, allegedly broke into the Kenmore home the woman was staying at about 2.30am Saturday.
He would later flee the scene after allegedly attempting to kill the woman, who is aged in her 40s.
“Police will allege a man that is known to her has attended the property and attempted to suffocate and strangle the woman,” a statement from Queensland Police said.
“A violent struggle ensued, in which the woman was able to break free and seek refuge at a neighbouring property.”
The woman was taken to hospital for treatment to her injuries, and was on Saturday morning in a stable condition, while the man allegedly fled from the scene.
Police intercepted his car a short distance away where he was taken into custody.
The man, from Taringa, was refused police bail and is due to appear before Brisbane Magistrates Court on Monday, March 14.
He’s been charged with attempted murder (domestic violence offence), enter dwelling with intent by break at night (domestic violence offence) and contravention of domestic violence order (aggravated offence).
