Man suffers serious head injury during road rage incident

A man is in hospital with serious head injuries after he was beaten with a stick in a violent road rage in Brisbane’s south on Sunday afternoon.

A man is in hospital with serious head injuries after being hit with a stick during a violent road rage confrontation in Brisbane’s south on Sunday afternoon.

Police say the 34-year-old was assaulted by a truck driver on Douglas St at Oxley, between Englefield Rd and Rudd St, about 3pm.

The truck driver allegedly drove dangerously while overtaking a Volkswagen Golf, before both vehicles pulled over.

The truck driver then assaulted the Volkswagen’s 34-year-old passenger with a large stick before leaving the scene.

The Durack man suffered a significant head injury, a fracture to his hand along with lacerations and bruising.

He was taken to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in a serious condition.

The driver of a car was not physically injured.

Inala detectives are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident or who has CCTV or dashcam footage in the area between 3pm and 3.30pm to contact police.

Investigations are ongoing.
