A 46-year-old man has died in Brisbane’s eastern suburbs after a vehicle he was working on fell and crushed him in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Emergency services were called to the IGA car park on Cambridge Parade and Stratton Terrace in Manly at 2.26am on Tuesday to a man who appeared to have been working on the vehicle before it fell and trapped him underneath.

Paramedics including critical care and the High Acuity Response Unit assessed the man who was in a critical condition before he died on scene.

Detective Inspector of the East Crime Group Steve Hollands said the man was found by security in the car park of IGA Manly in the popular Manly Harbour Village.

“He was found under the vehicle with a jack nearby and was apparently fixing a tyre,” he said.

“QFRS and QAS assisted to get him out and attempted to resuscitate.”

Investigations are ongoing but police are treating the death as non-suspicious.
