Man stabbing after stabbing in Rockhampton East

A man who sustained serious injuries after a stabbing in Rockhampton on Saturday night was finally in a stable condition on Thursday.
It comes after a shocked neighbour spoke out about what they heard before a home in their street was declared a crime scene following the stabbing.
Emergency crews were called to the East St home in Rockhampton City just before 8pm Saturday.
When police arrived on scene they found a 52-year-old Rockhampton man with two puncture wounds to his back and chest.
He was taken to Rockhampton Hospital in a critical but stable condition.
A spokeswoman for Central Queensland Hospital and Health Service said the man remained in a serious but stable condition on Wednesday morning and by Thursday his condition was listed simply as stable.
A crime scene was declared at the East St home on Saturday night, with police attending the property again on Sunday morning.
Speaking to this publication a neighbour, who wished to remain anonymous, said she’d heard yelling coming from the property in the lead up to the incident.
“There was arguing about a tree getting cut down and about 20 minutes later there were sirens,” she said.
“It’s usually pretty quiet, we’ve had no problems here.
“There were two ambulances and probably five police cars.”
A spokeswoman for Queensland Police Service said police had not taken anyone into custody over the alleged incident.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing and police are appealing for anyone who saw anything that might help their investigations to contact them.
