Man charged with murder over suspicious disappearance of Lachlan Griffiths

A 40-year-old man has been charged with murder over the disappearance of a Brisbane man who was reported missing on Australia Day.

A man has been charged with the murder of Brisbane man Lachlan Griffiths, after detectives last week probed a transport depot for evidence.

A 40-year-old Tingalpa man is due to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court this afternoon, charged with one count of murder following Mr Griffiths suspicious disappearance over one month ago.

Detectives last week revealed Mr Griffiths had been tracked to a transport depot on Musgrave Rd in Coopers Plains on January 16 – the day he was last seen alive.

According to Detective Inspector Dave Jackmak, Mr Griffiths, 35, had no known association with the depot.

“Our investigation has led to an address where we are conducting a crime scene examination of that premises,” Insp Jackman said last week.

Detectives believe a vehicle at the scene was the last Mr Griffiths was in before he disappeared.

According to police, Mr Griffiths was reported missing by his mum on January 26, however was last seen on the morning of January 16 at the Meriton Suites in Brisbane’s CBD.

Police last week revealed there had been a number of persons of interest, while Insp Jackman did not confirm if Mr Griffiths was with anyone at the time he disappeared.

Investigations remain ongoing.

Police continue to appeal for anyone who has knowledge of this incident or has relevant dashcam or CCTV footage to come forward.
