A man in his twenties has been charged with murder after a pedestrian was killed in what police will allege was a deliberate act during a prolonged road rage incident that spanned Brisbane to Logan.

The 25-year-old man was killed in the alleged hit and run at Browns Plains about 3pm on Friday.

This afternoon, a 24-hour police manhunt ended when the man, 20, accused of killing the young Brisbane driver was taken into custody.

Police will allege the man was behind the wheel of a white Audi hatchback that fatally struck the victim.

Queensland Police Regional Crime Coordinator for the South East region, Detective Inspector Paul Dalton said the alleged fatal strike followed a 30-minute road rage event.

“Initial investigations indicate this is perhaps what we refer to as a rolling road rage incident,” he said.

“The two vehicles and their occupants had been interacting with each other for a period of half an hour. We suspect that this has occurred in suburbs in between Everton Hills and where the incident has occurred at Wembley Rd at Browns Plains.”

Det Insp Dalton confirmed it was being treated as an alleged homicide.

He said there was no clear indication the two men knew each other prior to the alleged road rage incident.

Police dedicated extensive resources to finding the 20-year-old driver of the Audi - which was located at a Marsden address on Friday evening after the driver allegedly fled from the scene.

Det Insp Dalton had pleaded with the man to turn himself in.

“Show a bit of conscience, show a bit of heart,” he said.

The man was located about 2.30pm today at a home in Loganlea, where he was taken into police custody.

Det Insp Dalton said the lives of both the deceased man and the driver had been changed, as had the lives of those who witnessed the horror event.

“These people are just members of our community who are out there living a lawful life, going about their business, and they had to witness this. This will impact them for the rest of their life.”

Mick Columbus, who witnessed the alleged incident, said what he saw will stay in his mind.

“I’m very sorry this happened to you and to the family who is missing you right now,” he wrote online.

“The memory of how you died today is still going to be something that will stay in my mind for a good while …”.

Det Insp Dalton urged the public to “take a breath, think about it, relax and drive the other way,” if they find themselves in a frustrating situation on Queensland’s roads.
