A man is facing an upgraded charge of murder after his mother died in the wake of an alleged serious domestic violence assault in August.

A 29-year-old man has been charged with the murder of his mother after an alleged serious domestic violence assault at Upper Kedron in August.
A Queensland Police spokesman on Thursday afternoon said the 61-year-old woman suffered “critical head injuries” on the afternoon of August 17 and died on August 26.
“The woman was initially transported to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in a critical condition; however, police will allege she succumbed to her injuries and passed away in hospital,” a spokesman said.
The man was initially charged with one count of grievous bodily harm domestic violence offence.
“Following extensive investigations by Ferny Grove’s Criminal Investigation Branch, including their newly established DFV team, his charge was upgraded to one count of murder domestic violence offence, October 19,” a Police spokesman said.
The man is due to appear at Brisbane Magistrates Court on Friday.
