Man charged with dangerous driving after alleged car theft

A man has been charged after he allegedly stole two cars and performed a burnout to evade police.

A man has been charged after he allegedly performed a burnout with a car that had no number plates before stealing another car in Logan yesterday.

Police attempted to intercept a silver Holden Commodore driving alone Browns Plains Rd, Logan, with no number plates about 5.30pm yesterday.

The car performed a burnout before accelerating away, with the police helicopter Polair monitoring its movements.

The 25-year-old alleged driver parked the car at a Boronia Heights shopping centre about 6.30pm, before stealing a white Jeep from the car park.

A man from Sippy Downs on the Sunshine Coast was charged with two counts each of dangerous operation of a vehicle while adversely affected by an intoxicating substance and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

He was also charged with one count each of evasion, burglary and driving a car without registration plates.

He is expected to appear in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
