A man has died in hospital after he was assaulted on a street south of Brisbane on Sunday night.
The 52-year-old man was transferred to a specialist care facility at the Princess Alexandra Hospital after initially presenting to the Logan Hospital with significant head injuries.
The man has been identified as Van Dam Nguyen, with detectives continuing to appeal for people with any information to contact them.
Police on Tuesday were investigating the whereabouts of a grey Toyota belonging to the victim.
Detectives have since found the car and are asking for anyone with dashcam footage along Government Road at Richlands between Archerfield Road and Forest lake Boulevard between 6.15pm and 6.45pm on Sunday.
Police have returned to do separate crime scenes connected to a man who died after he was assaulted in Logan.
Officers were seen walking through the crime scene on Rudyard Street at Inala where it is believed the man was assaulted.
Police in forensic suits were also seen combing through evidence at an address in Ellen Grove.
Yesterday, Queensland Police Inspector Chris Knight said the man had been taken to hospital by “friends”.
“He was transported to Logan Hospital by some friends, people that we have spoken to,” Mr Knight said yesterday.
“At the time he arrived at hospital, he was in and out of consciousness. The significance of his injuries at that stage was considered severe.”
The man was later transferred to Princess Alexandra Hospital.
Mr Knight said police believed the man was assaulted near bushland along Rudyard Street at Inala about 6.30pm on Sunday.
“We believe that he met with some others at this location,” he said.
He said his friends witnessed portions of the incident. “We believe that he was with them prior to and following the assault,” he said.
Police have searched addresses at Inala and Hillcrest in the past 48 hours and are
investigating the whereabouts of a car belonging to the victim, a grey Toyota Rav4 with Queensland registration 979 LP2.
According to police, the vehicle was last seen at a fast-food restaurant on Government Rd, Richlands, between 6pm and 6.30pm on Sunday.
Investigators are also appealing for anyone with dashcam vision from the vicinity of Government Road, between Archerfield Rd and Forest Lake Boulevard, to contact police.
