The pair accused of murdering a young Daisy Hill mother while she was walking home from her daughter’s daycare centre had only been together for five months, it can be revealed.
Larissa Rita Mae-Leigh Sant, 24, and Tyler Scott William James, 27, have both been charged with the murder of James’ ex-girlfriend, Kiesha Thompson, who died on Friday.
Police allege Sant drove a Toyota Prado onto a footpath and hit Ms Thompson as she walked home along Allamanda Dr in Daisy Hill, before fleeing the scene.
Ms Thompson was rushed to hospital but died later that night.
It is alleged Sant and James planned to kill Ms Thompson together, and police were investigating whether Ms Thompson was watched by the same Toyota Prado two days before her death.
Sant was charged on Saturday and James was charged on Monday. They have not entered any pleas.
James and Sant got together in February, according to Sant’s social media, and had been together just five months before allegedly killing Ms Thompson.
During their first few months together, Sant posted regularly about their relationship.
In one post, she captions a video of herself with the words “untouchable, because as soon as this man came into my life he made every other man unattractive to me”.
Those close to Sant said they didn’t know she had a new boyfriend after splitting up with the father of her three children two years ago.
Detective Inspector Chris Knight said James and Ms Thompson, who had a daughter together in 2022, had separated months ago.
“We will allege that the relationship was over, and was over for some months prior to the homicide,” Inspector Knight said.
Police ramped up their investigations in the area where Ms Thompson was killed and set up a mobile police beat on Wednesday morning.
Parents of children at the daycare centre, local businesses, as well as residents of Allamanda Drive were among those who visited the police beat.
It is understood several people indicated they had footage of a silver Toyota Prado in the vicinity of the daycare centre on the day of the alleged murder.
Anyone with information or vision in the Allamanda Dr area on July 17 or July 19 is urged to contact police.
