Australian musicians Jesse Sewell and Matthew Khabbaz, whose musical duo Super Cruel has more than 20,000 monthly listeners on Spotify, are facing charges of assaulting a woman over an alleged incident in Brisbane.
South Australian writer and producer Khabbaz, who performs as Tigerilla, and Sewell, a Sydney DJ who goes by the name Jesse Porsches, each face one count of common assault.
Police allege the assault occurred on March 24 2019 at 388 Brunswick Street Fortitude Valley following a performance by Super Cruel at the Tivoli.
The men have not yet been required to enter a plea however Sewell has indicated through his lawyer that he will plead not guilty.
According to court documents the pair were charged in June last year by Fortitude Valley CIB.
The matter was mentioned in Brisbane Magistrates Court today where the men were granted an application to cross-examine two witnesses at a committal hearing in November.
In 2017 Khabbaz signed a deal with music publisher BMG whose roster of artist has included AC/DC, Wolfmother and Tame Impala.
The worldwide publishing deal followed his nomination for a J Award for his video for the single Tulips.
Sewell and Super Cruel also signed with BMG.
