One of two men charged with the murder of a disabled man at a Redbank Plains apartment complex on Thursday has been named.

Ipswich Magistrates Court briefly heard the matter of Anton Quay Haynes, 33, on Saturday morning.

Haynes, who did not appear, has, along with a 48-year-old Redback Plains man, been charged with the murder of 43-year-old disabled man Daniel Finley.

Police spokesman said Mr Finley and the two men were known to each other.

Witnesses told the media that they saw an agitated man walking around the complex and banging on the doors before the alleged murder.

It is believed Mr Finley was known for hosting parties at his home and playing loud music “at all hours”.

The alleged murder was committed at the same location where shots were fired just last week.

A Police spokesman said officers were confident the two incidents were linked.

Emergency services were called to a Lillian Street address in Redbank Plains about 8.40pm on Thursday where a man was located dead and a crime scene was declared.

Detective Superintendent George Marchesini said the victim allegedly suffered “significant stabbing injuries”.

He confirmed police had seized a number of “bladed weapons” for forensic testing.

Supt Marchesini said police wanted to assure the public there was no further threat.

“This is a matter between people that were associated with each other, it wasn’t a random attack,” he said of the police case.

“And I would like to give confidence and assure members of the public that we have had police working on this matter as soon as we’ve attended the scene, have worked through the night, are still working on this matter.

“I can assure the public at this point in time there is certainly no dangers there in regards to this incident.”

Supt Marchesini appealed for anyone with information to contact police.

Haynes’ matter was adjourned to December 20 for further mention, with no evidence read to the court.

His co-accused was also due to face Ipswich Magistrates Court on the same day for mention.
