The car caught fire after a 55-year-old man pulled into the driveway.

A witness, Manuel Halicos, said he was sitting on a park bench across the road when he said he saw the ute with “both wheels sparking”.

The 55-year-old man, who owns the car and lives at the residence, suffered some minor burns while trying to put out the blaze.

Police are investigating whether the Holden Rodeo was involved in a nearby incident in nearby Lerna St just minutes earlier.

It was believed a man who was seen being treated by paramedics and speaking to police nearby was the man behind the wheel of the ute on a bizarre drive around the block before it caught alight.
