‘Half of me is gone’: Qld mother remembered as ‘bright star’ following NT crash

A Queensland mother of six who died while on a road trip is being remembered as a “bright star” by her sister-in-law.

A Queensland mother of six, who tragically died while on a road trip in the Northern Territory, is being remembered as a “bright star”.

Loganlea mother Gabrielle Soltan and a 44-year old man died last Thursday after a single-vehicle rollover on the Stuart Highway near Tennant Creek.

NT Police said they were first alerted to the incident 75 kilometres north of the town about 6am Thursday.

Ms Solton’s sister-in-law, Jazinda Oshea has since launched a GoFundMe for the “bright star” who had been travelling from Queensland to the Northern Territory. 

“She would Facetime me and send me video updates of everywhere she went but then I got a call from her mum the morning of the crash,

“(Gabrielle’s mum) said the car had flipped but her boyfriend survived. The boyfriend’s friend also passed away.”

“We knew each other for nearly 14 years as she shares two children with my brother.”

Ms Oshea said when she told the children about the accident she “watched their little hearts rip out”.

“It’s still very raw,” she said.

Gabrielle Soltan died in a single-vehicle crash near Tennant Creek.

“I feel like half of me is gone, it’s no longer Jaz and Elle ... it’s just Jaz now ... it’s like the brightest star no longer shines in my life.”

Ms Oshea said her brother has “pushed” the pain down and “closed off”.

“We are all devastated to lose such a bright star. Lilly, Stevie, Keeley, Amelia, Harper & Armani will forever be without their mother. And we need help to give her the send-off she needs,” the GoFundMe read.

“She was everything all rolled up into a beautiful person.”
