A frail and weathered Paul Pisasale has been captured on camera for the first time since his release from jail after three years behind bars.
The disgraced former Ipswich mayor on Wednesday appeared outside his Brassall home of 30 years weeks after his release on parole late last year.
Pisasale had a public fall from grace when charged with more than 30 offences including corruption, fraud and sexual assault, and sentenced to seven years’ jail.
Pisasale, who is battling multiple sclerosis, spent more than three years behind bars with the majority of his time spent at the Wolston Correctional Centre.
The 71-year-old was observed walking out of his double-storey brick home with another man on Wednesday morning.
He was first elected to Ipswich City Council in the early 1990s and spent more than a decade as mayor before a flood of allegations of serious misconduct were brought to light.
Pisasale also took money from developers while donations worth thousands of dollars were at times deposited into his personal bank account.
In Pisasale’s sentencing in September, 2020, Judge Dennis Lynch KC slammed the career politician for the “gross abuse of your position as a trusted leader of the Ipswich community.”
It’s understood Pisasale had rekindled his Christian faith in jail and had previously sought to atone the life that led to his arrest.
Property records showed Pisasale has owned the Brassall home since 1992.
