A former swim coach at one of Brisbane’s most prestigious schools has had grooming and procure offences replaced by a single charge of sexual assault.

The ex-Anglican Church Grammar School (Churchie) swim coach was charged late last year with one count each of grooming a child under 16 years and procure sexual act by false pretence.

In Brisbane Magistrates Court on Monday prosecutors withdrew the two offences and substituted them with a single count of sexual assault.

The new charge alleges the man unlawfully and indecently assaulted a female at East Brisbane on October 10 last year.

Deputy Chief Magistrate Anthony Gett charged the man from the bench and dismissed the other two offences.

The man was granted bail on his own undertaking and the matter adjourned to July 24.

Churchie has previously said the man was on leave when initially charged and did not return to the all boys school.
