Shocking footage has emerged of a gang of teenagers filming themselves trying to escape police inside a stolen car in southeast Queensland, with one teen threatening to run an officer over.
The footage, shared live to Instagram on Saturday night, shows a group of five teenagers inside a Mazda 6 which was stolen from a Carindale shopping centre on Thursday.
Police will allege the car was spotted by PolAir about 8.20pm on Saturday driving along Beenleigh Redland Bay Rd.
PolAir tracked the car for some time through Logan and Ipswich, before officers successfully stingered the car’s tyres at Sunnybank.
But the vehicle continued to be driven on its rims through Coopers Plains, where the teens started their livestream to social media.
The footage shows flashing police lights in the car’s rear-view mirror as the group debate what their next move is going to be.
“F**k bra, f**k bra. We’re just getting slower and slower I can feel it bro,” one male juvenile said.
A female in the back seat can then be heard saying she was going to have “one last pipe”, before another juvenile suggests they “lock the door” and “just smoke pipes”.
The sound of the rims grinding along the road can be heard as the girl – beginning to panic – says they should stop.
“No let’s just get out … stop, stop, please,” she can be heard saying.
Another juvenile tried to calm the girl by saying “we’re getting done either way, they won’t hurt us, just kick the f**k back.”
Another male juvenile can then be heard saying he would run a police officer over if the car windows were smashed.
The group eventually ditched the car in Coopers Plains and took off, but the police dog squad located them around 11.30pm.
