Father pleads: “hand yourself in” over fatal police hit and run

The father of a woman who remains on the run after a hit and run that caused the death of a southeast Queensland policeman has pleaded for his daughter to find the courage to turn herself in.

A man who says he’s the father of Skye Wallis – the woman police believe was behind the wheel of a car that struck policeman Dave Masters – has pleaded with his daughter to “do the right thing” and hand herself into police.

The man, who The Courier-Mail has chosen not to name, yesterday posted on an old Facebook account belonging to Wallis.

He writes, “hi sweetheart,” before pleading with the 33-year-old mother.

“I need to beg you please to put an end to this peacefully and do the right thing please please please.

“I’ve lost you for way too many years now, and we don’t talk, but I don’t want to lose you for eternity.

“You have beautiful children and your whole family to hope you can find just that small piece of courage to keep living, no matter what’s to come ahead.

“I need you to dig deeper than you ever have, to find the strength to hand yourself in please sweetheart. I beg you.”

Wallis’ father stated he knows he hadn’t always been a great father to Skye, however knowing she was still alive “keeps (his) heart alive.”

“We share the same genetics of mind, body and the cruel cards that have been dealt sometimes …

“(I) know you can turn the corner with strength … you can’t leave your family with a huge hole in our hearts that can’t be repaired.

“I absolutely love you and need you to know that you are strong, beautiful, and can do what’s right here.”

The man said he knew his daughter has “the courage to come out of this the right way.”

“Wherever you are, whatever you’re thinking … Please don’t let this go any further. We need you sweetheart and I’m praying that someway you’ll see these words to beg you to end this heartache.”

He signed off with “I love you so much.”

Wallis is still on the run from police, while her co-accused Kari O’Brien remains behind bars, charged with murder of the Deception Bay policeman.

The women are known to each other, and an online profile of Wallis shows a picture of her hugging O’Brien in April. The pair are sitting in a car together in another photo posted in March.

Wallis regularly posts selfies, many which use filters, and appears to mention three children.

In January, Wallis said she was “in a relationship” on her status on Facebook.

The top of her online profile states: “Live Hard, Love Harder … Chase Dreams, Seek Adventure! Capture Moments … Live Beautifully!”

Among her “likes” on the social platform is a group called Australian Stolen Cars.

“I am … ME!!!,” she wrote in the about section of her profile. “I would rather be hated for what I am, then loved for what I’m not … “I’m super f---ed up & that’s my charm.”

Her profile says she attended Caboolture High School.
