Epic police dog chase leads to two arrests of terrified alleged crooks

A man accused of repeatedly bashing a stranger in the face moments after he and another man are accused of fleeing from a crashed car has been apprehended by two brave police dogs and their handlers.
It was the combined efforts of PD Gator, PD Beau and their handlers from Moreton Dog Squad that led to the apprehension of the two men in Dakabin yesterday.
Police allege at around 1:40pm on Wednesday, a silver Ford Falcon bearing stolen plates
crashed into a light pole on Kerr Rd.
The men are accused of fleeing from the car.
One of the men is accused of then repeatedly punching a stranger in the face after allegedly entered onto his nearby property.
Police attended the scene of the crash, with PD Gator and PD Beau immediately sent to hunt down the men allegedly involved.
The 23-year-old man who police say was the driver of the crashed Ford jumped a back fence before he was hunted down by PD Beau.
The terrified alleged crook leapt into a box trailer in an attempt to escape from the dog.
He was taken into custody on scene.
Meanwhile, PD Gator tracked the car’s passenger for an extended period through bushland, into the Dakabin waste facility.
The 35-year-old man was found hiding in long grass and was later taken to hospital suffering from injuries sustained by a single dog bite from PD Gator.
The alleged driver of the car, from Dakabin, was charged with two counts of stealing and one count each of assault occasioning bodily harm, burglary, failure to comply with duties of driver involved in crash, possess things used in commission of an offence, obstruct police and trespass.
The man is also charged with serious assault person in pursuance of unlawful conspiracy following an alleged incident on August 7 where he attempted to leave a Morayfield South supermarket without paying for grocery items.
When a female store attendant tried to intervene the man allegedly claimed to have COVID-19 before deliberately coughing on her and leaving.
He is due to appear in Pine Rivers Magistrates Court today (September 9).
The other man is assisting police and has not yet been charged.
