Dramatic alleged stolen car crash destroys resident’s fence

A man and woman have been charged after an alleged stolen car crash that involved another vehicle and destroyed a Brisbane resident’s fence.

A man and woman have been charged after allegedly crashing a stolen car, destroying a fence and a wall at a Kelvin Grove home on Friday night.

Emergency services were called to the crash on July 4, around 10.20pm, where a white Suzuki Swift and blue Mitsubishi Triton had collided at the intersection of Herston Road and Picot Street.

A Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said both occupants of the Suzuki were charged with the unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

The white Suzuki was allegedly stolen.

A 28-year-old man from Mitchelton, the driver, was also charged with receiving tainted property, stealing, dangerous operation of a vehicle, face masked with intent to commit an indictable offence, possessing dangerous drugs, possess utensils or pipes for use, driving of motor vehicle without a driver's licence disqualified by court order, and driving under the influence.

His passenger, a 22-year-old woman from Numinbah Valley, was additionally charged with stealing petrol.

The man was remanded in custody and expected to reappear before Brisbane Magistrates Court on July 25.

The woman is expected to appear before Brisbane Magistrates Court on August 5.

Photos posted to social media showed a house on the street corner had its fence demolished.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said the driver of the Triton, who has not been charged and is not accused of any wrongdoing, was uninjured.

The female passenger of the Suzuki complained of back pain but did not require transport to hospital.
