A 51-year-old father was hit by a car last night after allegedly trying to protect his son in a brawl that broke out north of Brisbane.
Police said that about 6.45pm, two carloads of men in their 20s arrived at an address on Macadamia St, Caboolture South.
A brawl then broke out between the men in the cars and another group of young men who were in the house.
“An altercation has occurred and it’s understood baseball bats and machetes have been produced by the persons in the cars,” Acting Senior Sergeant Mark Spencer said.
It’s understood the man residing in the house, a 51-year-old father, has stepped in to stop a fight involving his son.
Neighbours then said someone inside the house fired several shots from an unknown weapon.
“As a result, the vehicles have fled and in the process, one of the vehicles, a white Rav4, has struck the 51-year-old man,” Sergeant Spencer said.
The man was transported to Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and is currently speaking to police.
Police are also speaking to the driver of the second car involved, which was a silver Ford.
Both cars have been recovered in the Caboolture area, and all members of the brawl are accounted for, except for the driver of the car that hit the man.
Crime scenes have been established at the Macadamia St home in Caboolture and in Daintree St, Brisbane.
Anyone with further information or who was in the area with dashcam vision is urged to contact police.
Investigations are ongoing.
