A third man has been charged over the alleged murder of a 52-year-old father at Logan in January.

Van Dam Nguyen was allegedly assaulted near Rudyard St in Inala, in Brisbane’s southwest, about 6.30pm on January 5.

Several hours later, police were called to Logan Hospital about 12.30am on January 6 after Mr Nguyen arrived at the hospital with significant head injuries.

He was transported to a specialist care facility but died from his injuries the following day.

Police have previously charged a man they allege is linked to the Comanchero bikie gang, 31-year-old Samuel David Vernon, with his murder.

Just days later, 32-year-old Coen James Keneally was also charged with murder.

On Monday police announced they had charged a third man – Tremayne Meagher, 26, with Mr Nguyen’s alleged murder.

The trio are alleged to have kidnapped Van Dam Nguyen and another individual, Chinh Van Pham – who also is the subject of the grievous bodily harm charge.

It’s alleged the men tortured Nguyen and Pham at a Bukulla Street address in Wacol.

Police will allege the accused knew Mr Nguyen.

Detective Acting Inspector Daniel Cunningham said the latest arrest followed months of detailed forensic examination, intelligence gathering and coordinated efforts by specialist units.

“This investigation has been long-running and complex, involving multiple scenes, offenders and serious allegations,” Detective Acting Inspector Cunningham said.

“We will allege this group was known to each other, and their actions resulted in the tragic death of a man who sustained catastrophic injuries.

“This murder charge demonstrates our ongoing commitment to holding those responsible to account and providing some further justice to the family.

“We are incredibly grateful to the public and partner agencies for their support throughout this investigation.”

Meagher was also charged with two counts each of armed robbery, kidnapping, torture, deprivation of liberty and unlawful use of a motor vehicle. And one count each of grievous bodily harm, receiving tainted property, burglary, assault occasioning bodily harm, common assault and trafficking dangerous drugs.

His matter was mentioned briefly in Brisbane Magistrates Court where the case was adjourned to June 16 for mention along with his co-accused.

Meagher did not appear in court and Queensland magistrates don’t hear bail applications for murder.

Vernon and Keneally are charged with murder, armed robbery, grievous bodily harm and two counts each of kidnapping and torture.

No pleas have been entered to any of the charges.

Investigations are continuing.
