Police are hunting a man who held a 7-Eleven worker at gunpoint and robbed the service station in Brisbane’s southwest overnight.

It is understood a masked man entered the Riverhills 7-Eeleven at around 8.30pm, and struck the worker over the head with a handgun and made off with a sum of cash.

A Queensland police spokesman said a man had allegedly threatened a staff member with a handgun and investigations are continuing.

“The man was struck over the head with the hand gun and the man left the store with a sum of cash,” the spokesman said.

Local Cyndel Jackson said she was at the store only moments before the alleged robbery.

“I stopped into 7-Eleven Riverhills to grab a few items. The pump lights were turned off and the worker inside was on the phone and not opening the doors,” Ms Jackson said in a post to social media.

“We left and I went back this morning and found out that five minutes earlier to me arriving last night a masked man walked in with a gun and struck the worker over the head and held him at gunpoint to open the cash drawers and safe.”

Anyone with information about the incidents below is asked to call Crimestoppers on 1800 333 000 quoting the reference numbers provided.
