Two men including a promising rugby league player have had their cases referred to restorative justice conferencing over the alleged sexual assault of woman in a Brisbane CBD unit.

The men Tory Harrison Bath and Tyrell Waaka-Rhind and a juvenile co-accused had their cases mentioned in Brisbane District Court on Monday.

Bath, 21, is facing nine counts of rape over the alleged January 2023 incident.

Waaka-Rhind, 21, who was an emerging talent for Norths Devils and played as a hooker in the Mal Meninga Cup in 2021, is charged with three counts of rape.

A court spokeswoman was unable to provide the charges for the juvenile.

The court heard the matter was being referred for a restorative justice conference for all three defendants.

According to the Queensland Government website restorative justice involves a complainant and defendant meeting to “talk about what happened, how they were impacted, what needs to be done to make things right.”

Common outcomes of restorative justice conferences include an apology, compensation, an agreement to attend counselling or other programs, a promise not to repeat the behaviour and/or a donation to charity.

The matter was adjourned for three months to allow the process to occur.
