A Brisbane child care worker has been charged with rape and sexual abuse of children at the centre he worked, with police allegedly finding disturbing images on his phone.

A Brisbane child care centre worker has been charged with sexually abusing kids at the centre.
The man, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, faced Brisbane Magistrates Court on Saturday charged with one count each of rape, indecent treatment of children under 12, involving child in making child exploitation material and two counts of possessing child exploitation material.
It comes just two months after, in an unrelated case, another Brisbane child care worker, Ashley Paul Griffith, was arrested and accused of raping and abusing 91 girls at various centres in Queensland, New South Wales and overseas over a 15-year period without detection.
His barrister David Cormack made an application for bail which was opposed by police however Magistrate Michael Quinn declined to proceed until further information about ongoing investigations was provided.
Mr Quinn asked where the man had been charged in relation to allegations contained in a police affidavit that “involves images on the defendant’s phone depicting the defendant laying naked on bed in a suggestive manner, and the naked arm and leg of a young child is seen to be laying on the bed.”
“If further police investigations are underway, I do not feel that I can continue with an application for bail until I get all matters before me,” Mr Quinn said.
Police prosecutor Sgt Lisa Pye and Mr Cormack said they understood further investigations were underway.
“In that case it‘s clear that I cannot proceed … it’s a serious set of circumstances in that there’s allegations already of interfering with children at a daycare centre,” Mr Quinn said. He adjourned the matter to next week.
The man was remanded in custody.
