The teenager accused of killing a beloved grandmother in a stolen car crash north of Brisbane still remains in custody, waiting on evidence, more than six months on.
The boy, who cannot be identified due to his age, was arrested and charged with manslaughter following the death of 69-year-old Rosemary Franzidis at Murrumba Downs on November 7.
It’s alleged the boy, 16 at the time, crashed a stolen Audi into Ms Franzidis’s Toyota Corolla while she was driving home from church along Dohles Rocks Rd that morning.
Ms Franzidis was declared deceased at the scene - just one traffic light away from her destination.
The boy’s case was briefly mentioned at Brisbane Children’s Court on Tuesday and adjourned to June 17.
The court heard the boy’s defence lawyer Rajiv Gill had received a brief of evidence but was still waiting on a download of the boy’s phone.
The delay follows previous adjournments in February, March, and April - at which times the court was told the same evidence remained outstanding.
The boy made no appearance in court on Tuesday and was remanded in custody.
In addition to the count of manslaughter, the boy stands charged with two counts of assault occasioning bodily harm and one count each of armed robbery, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, and a breach of bail over the events allegedly leading up to the crash.
