A Queensland psychiatrist has surrendered his medical licence, agreeing with the watchdog not to practise as medical practitioner.

Terence Wai Hoong Teh, from Birkdale in the City of Redland, gave an undertaking to the state’s Health Ombudsman which was accepted by them on March 28.

According to an announcement posted on the Health Ombudsman website, Dr Teh has agreed not practice as medical practitioner in any role, whether paid or voluntary, including any job that uses his medical skills and knowledge in a health care industry.

He does not currently have Health Ombudsman approval to practise in any employment or practice location.

Dr Teh, who was also a registered psychotherapist, previously worked at Brisbane Psychiatry and according to their website he “is on leave through 2025 with a planned return to practice in January 2026”.

According to the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency website, Dr Teh graduated with a medical degree from the University of Tasmania in 2003.

He was first registered in the profession in 2005.
