A teen has rushed to the aid of her screaming stepfather after he was shot multiple times during a violent home invasion north of Brisbane overnight.

It is understood the attackers burst into a Bellmere home about 1am wearing masks and carrying firearms before fleeing the scene in a small black vehicle after the shooting.

Police were called to the Peggy Road address about 1:17am on Thursday.

It is understood the group of attackers left

Madyson Nama, 19, and her mother compressed the gunshot wounds of the man, who was screaming in agony, after the terrifying home invasion.

Ms Nama was in her twin’s room as their six-year-old sister and 16-year-old brother slept, when at least three men all dressed in black with ski masks, allegedly invaded their home.

Madyson was woken by the sound of her stepfather Jimmy and mother Christie screaming, when she wandered out to the hallway and saw the three men, one holding a gun.

“I stopped when I saw three men dressed all in black, ski masks, gloves, the middle man was holding a gun with a cloth over it,” Ms Nama said.

“My step dad was screaming at them to get out and mother told us to get out of the house.

“We went out the laundry door and called triple-zero

“We heard two gunshots go off and there were flashes of light.

“We went to run out of the gate to the front yard but then we heard the intruders running away.

“We went inside and my mother was screaming saying my step dad got shot.

“He was screaming out in pain.

“My mother and I were compressing the wound to stop the bleeding, while my sister was on the phone to the dispatcher.

“He was saying he couldn’t breathe and that he wanted to go to hospital because the ambulance was taking too long.”

Madyson and Christie helped Jimmy outside the house where he collapsed as police arrived.

In a statement, Queensland Police confirmed he was taken to Caboolture Hospital in a stable condition, with multiple gunshot wounds.

Madyson said there were at least half a dozen police cars, two ambulance crews and canine units on scene, with half the street later being taped off.

“I was emotional when it all happened and now it’s all a shock,” Ms Nama said.

“He’s stable at the moment, I’m not sure if he’s had surgery at the moment.

“I’ve never seen anything like this happen in Bellmere and especially not with us ever

“I haven’t slept, just been awake and in shock still.

“I’ve gotten a lot of messages because things have been getting out about it.

“I’ll go and see my step dad in the hospital later.”

Neighbour Netty told the Courier-Mail that she has lived on Peggy Road for three years and nothing like this has ever happened during her time there.

“They are nice people,” she said.

“I was dead asleep at the time, I didn’t hear much at all.

“It’s crazy and I’ll be getting more security installed for my place.

“I need to know who’s coming and going.

“People always say they can’t believe things like this happen in their street but it’s true.”

Investigations are still ongoing and police are appealing for any information or CCTV footage in the area to please come forward.
