A luxury car dealer with alleged links to a bikie gang has been granted bail after being arrested for drug and weapons offences.

Scott William Sutherland, 55, had seven charges appear in Brisbane Arrests Court on Saturday, including supplying drugs and unlawful possession of weapons.

His other charges included possessing drugs, possessing property suspected of being used in connection with the commission of a drug offence, possess utensils, and authority required to possess explosives.

Defence barrister Ambyr Cousen applied for bail on Sutherland’s behalf, but police objected saying there were allegations he had associations with Rebels Outlaw Motorcycle Gang (OMCG) and was an unacceptable risk of committing another offence.

Ms Cousen told the court Sutherland denied having any recent contact with the OMCG.

“He says that he’s had no contact with anyone in such a gang for 20 years and he doesn’t associate … he denies those allegations,” Ms Cousen said.

Sutherland is a general sales manager at luxury car dealer, Audi, in Fortitude Valley.

His minor criminal history included a good behaviour bond in 2019 for similar offences.

Magistrate Michael Gerard O’Driscoll granted Sutherland bail on strict conditions, including a curfew and reporting to a police station.

Magistrate O’Driscoll said some of the charges were concerning, while warning Sutherland to not associate with any OMCGs.

“Certainly anything to do with weapons is a concern,” Magistrate O’Driscoll said.

“I’m sure you’ll give your client advice in relation to compliance with the terms of the bail, and also the issue raised by the prosecutor about outlaw criminal motorcycle gang, Rebels motorcyclists.”

Sutherland’s matter was adjourned until June 17 for a mention.
